Accessibility Statement
Tapestry Accessibility Statement
Tapestry is brought to you by CyArk, a non-profit committed to empowering connections with historic places. At CyArk we are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance Status
Currently, our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. In addition to our efforts to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, we are also committed to ensuring that our website is compliant with Section 508 Standards.
Accessibility Features
Our Tapestry web application includes features such as:
- Full keyboard navigation, including a skip-to-content link, visible focus indicators, and keyboard access to the tour player, scene timeline, media galleries, and all dialogs (Escape closes any open dialog)
- Screen reader compatibility, including page landmarks, labeled controls and dialogs, and live announcements of scene changes and search results
- High Contrast Mode and adjustable font size
- Closed captions for narrated content
- Reduced motion support: decorative animations and auto-rotating elements are paused when your device's "reduce motion" setting is enabled
- A text list alternative to the interactive map of experiences
- An accessible pause/resume control for autoplay mode
Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology
Tapestry is designed to be compatible and tested with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen Reader VoiceOver
- Screen Reader JAWS
Known Limitations
We are aware of some areas where we must improve accessibility. We are actively working to improve these components, which include:
- Some orange text and interface accents do not yet meet color contrast requirements
- Keyboard focus is not yet contained within open dialogs, so it is possible to move focus to background content
- Camera movement in the 3D scenes does not yet respond to the "reduce motion" device setting
- Captions are being migrated to standard caption tracks to improve quality and language support
