<p>This project was done in partnership with the Brearu of Land Managment (BLM) and Lertxun-marrak: The Arborglyph Collaborative to document and preserve the unique arborglyphs found on quaking aspen trees in Lincoln County, Nevada, near Mt. Wilson. Arborglyphs, the intricate and expressive carvings etched into tree bark by sheepherders, represent a culturally significant yet under-researched and fragile aspect of the region's heritage. These carvings, often depicting figures, symbols, and inscriptions, provide a tangible link to the past, reflecting the experiences and stories of early settlers. The project aims to foster a deeper understanding and respect for the historical contributions of Basque settlers in shaping the cultural landscape of the American West.</p>
